ASAFOETIDA HING POWDER ASAFOETIDA POWDER is used to flavour foods like vegetable and lentil dishes and is used in traditional Indian Cuisine giving a flavour similar to garlic. ASAFOETIDA is used specifically in Ayurvedic cooking tradition for health and wellbeing because it contains the 6 tastes required daily by the body: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent. When the body receives these tastes daily this prevents cravings and keeps the body/mind balanced. Use a pinch of ASAFOETIDA in your hot oil base as you prepare onions, spices and tomatoes etc then add the vegetables, lentils etc. Also known as HING this pungent powder is very strong so adjust according to taste.
